Dave was born and brought up in Merthyr Tydfil.

He is a former trade union activist and Trade Union Studies lecturer, who has lived in North West England for over 35 years.

For a number of years, Dave wrote live and CD reviews as well as interviews for Folk North West (under the name Lewis Jones)

Dave has written a number of short stories, poems and plays, many of which have been performed at theatre spaces in the Greater Manchester area by professional actors.

His critically acclaimed first full length play ‘Forever Changes’  premiered in 2017 at the Greater Manchester Fringe Festival, while his poems have been recorded by late Irish singer and broadcaster, Eamon Friel and Liverpool based actor and activist, Tayo Aluko.

In 2018, actor Mary Hooton recorded his heart-rending monologue ‘The Bruise’.
