We’re delighted to share that our Christmas Folk on the Dee in the Day event last December at the Dee Sailing Club raised £300 for local charity Open Door.
The donation was made possible by the generosity of everyone who came along to enjoy the music and support the afternoon.
Supporting the Work of Open Door
Open Door provides fast, free and effective mental health support for young people across Wirral and Merseyside. One of the things that makes their service so valuable is that it is free to access and operates with no waiting lists, ensuring young people can get help when they need it most.
Each week the charity supports over 100 young adults, offering programmes designed to build confidence, develop coping strategies and create safe spaces where people can talk openly about their mental health.
Their work focuses on removing the barriers that often prevent young people from seeking help, while also challenging the stigma that can still surround mental health.
A Message from Open Door
Following the event, we were pleased to receive a letter from Open Door recognising the £300 raised by the Openhouse Folk community.
In their message, the team explained how donations like this help them continue providing accessible mental health support for young people across the region.

They also included a certificate which we were pleased to receive on behalf of everyone who attended and supported the day.
Music, Community and Support
Receiving the letter and certificate was a lovely reminder of what can happen when people come together around music; a relaxed afternoon of songs, conversation and connection helping to support organisations doing such important work in our local area.
